Why are you named/called what you are? Do you know what 2nd choice was?

How popular/common is your name? >> Social Security site

We name everything—from our children to the artwork we create to the furniture we buy. Giving someone or something a name gives us a sense of ownership, control over the tangible world as we understand it. Names help us to identify what we see, smell, hear and taste, and to communicate what we feel. Calling a person by his or her name can make them less like a stranger, and an introduction is all that we need to cultivate a relationship with someone

Names can influence a person to feel part of something bigger than their individuality. They create movements in art, politics, religion, and popular culture. People are often motivated by the names they are associated with. We wear brand name clothing, we get our names tattooed on our skin, we change our names when we get married, and without names we are transparent.

Our trademarks are our names. They make us who we are. What if your name was different? Would you be the same person? Everything has a name.

Ours is Heather.
